Dear parents and guardians,
Welcome to room 21... HOME of the SEDENKO SUPERSTARS! I hope you had a fabulous summer, building memories and enjoying your family.
Allow me to introduce myself to you, as this is my SECOND YEAR at Olive Drive Elementary. My name is Gina Sedenko, and I was BORN TO TEACH. I come from a family of educators, and since the second grade, I KNEW I wanted to be a teacher. I began teaching right out of college at the age of 24. I graduated with my teaching credential in Liberal Studies and earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University Bakersfield. The vast majority of my teaching has been in third grade. I took roughly 8 years off when my kids were little, but always knew I’d return to the classroom. This will be year 22 in the classroom for me.
I’m a Bakersfield native, and I have 3 kids (24, 22, and 17). For fun, I enjoy the outdoors, traveling with my family, singing, hiking, running, and leading my early morning bootcamp. Because of my love for fitness and music, I use them whenever possible in the classroom. Kids thrive on both, so they will sing and move a lot.
This year, I look forward to building relationships with your kids as we explore new ideas, discover fun math concepts, learn to be better writers, explore wonders in science and our amazing universe, and understand more about our community, city, state, and country.
I’m so grateful to work with your kids this year. Please join me on this THIRD GRADE JOURNEY. Involve yourself as much as possible. Talk to your kids daily about school - - academics and friendships, new ideas, things that are bothering them, and ideas that excite them. Push them. Hold them accountable. Give them chores and attainable goals. TOGETHER, we will build young men and women who believe in themselves and who are willing to work hard and GIVE THEIR BEST to accomplish great things.
